Safe From COVID Dance

Christian and Christine are DePaul University nursing students and interns with Words on Wheels. In this video they perform their “Safe From Covid Dance” to demonstrate hand washing and hygiene for kids. This was part of the viral TikTok dance about washing your hands--the song dubbed “Ghen Co Vy” (Vietnamese for coronavirus) — urges the public to “push the coronavirus away” by refraining from “rubbing one’s nose, mouth and eyes, limiting visits to public places" or to wash one’s hands thoroughly.

Cindy Rubin

Cindy Rubin has been a Words On Wheels volunteer and board member Since 2017. She is a retired kindergarten teacher, whose passion was teaching children how to read. Cindy’s favorite activity was reading aloud to her students. Once she learned about Words on Wheels' curriculum and philosophy of exposing at-risk infants, toddlers and early childhood children to literacy, music, finger plays, songs and bubbles--she was hooked. Cindy believes early intervention for brain development is so important for all children. She loves the opportunity of being able to drive out to at-risk communities, in need of volunteers, to interact with these beautiful, sweet, excited and ready to play, children. Cindy has always believed that children don't realize they are learning while having fun. She feels that Words on Wheels was the perfect fit for her to get her fix of reading to and engaging children with literacy. She is thrilled to be apart of this amazing organization and honored to be working alongside such caring board members and volunteers.
