December 2024
Dear Friends of Words on Wheels,

To our many Donors, our Advisory Board Members, our past and current Board of Directors, our Service Providers, our Internsand our Volunteers.  I am writing this letter to you to let you know that after much deliberation and discussions we have decided to dissolve our Words on Wheels Inc. not for profit this year.

Most of you know that more than 15 years ago I became the founder of Words on Wheels based on the idea that a group of volunteers would bring words to places where young at risk children could learn the power of words.  We brought the words to them!  During those years we delivered 3512 Activity Bags, 6850 Books & Toys given at Events, 2110 Hours spent with Children, and over 17303 Miles Traveled.

We now have our plans in place, and I assure you that all our inventory will be donated and distributed to Lake County children by The Regional Office of Education, their Foundation, and Dr. Michael Karner, Regional Superintendent. (He has promised me!)

The Lake County Regional Office of Education is creating a birth to five initiative and welcomed β€˜all’ of our supplies of books, puppets, musical instruments, bubbles, our video library (with over 50 videos in six languages), and much more.

This decision does not mean we failed our mission. It will be continued by the Office ofEducation! When I look back at the impact we had on so many people and other organizations in the community, I know that my idea, my dream, did indeed come true.

Without all of you none of our accomplishments would have been possible. I want to thank each one of you for the donations, the gifts of time and talent and mostly for your support over the years.

My grateful regards,
Beth Ragsdale
